....see what makes John Secgan tick
The work John produces is centred around those natural phenomena that stop us in our tracks, hold our gaze, mesmerise us. Like a poet writes their best work in recollection of that visceral moment, John creates his landscapes from a personal response to those experiences, in the quiet of his studio, where his visual memory distills those rare encounters into a new reality of paint on canvas.
But not all that is beautiful can be owned. That golden glistening stone pulled from the icy waters of a mountain river will dull to grey as it dries. Its beauty melts and drips back through the rippled surface of the flowing water, then still on down it falls onto the rivers bed, where it will cloak another stone.
To own a landscape by John is to relive a moment, a memory or fleeting sense of well being.
